Share Classes of the Same Fund

VTWAX, its Investor Shares counterpart, and the VT ETF all track the same FTSE Global All Cap Index and hold the same underlying portfolio — they differ only in structure, minimums, and cost:

Practical implication: if a brokerage supports fractional/automatic recurring investments into mutual funds, VTWAX is a convenient "set and forget" single-fund holding. If not (or for non-US brokerage access, e.g. via IBKR), the ETF share class VT is the equivalent, more universally tradeable instrument — and for Indian investors specifically, the Ireland-domiciled VWRA (tracking the related FTSE All-World Index) is often preferred over VT/VTWAX for estate-tax reasons. See US Estate Tax Avoidance for Non-Resident Aliens.

One-Fund Portfolio

VTWAX is a common pick for a one-fund equity portfolio in the Bogleheads community — since it already blends total US and total international stock market exposure in a single fund, it removes the need to separately hold and rebalance a US fund (e.g. VTSAX) against an international fund (e.g. VTIAX). This is the simplest variant of the Three-fund portfolio philosophy, collapsed into one ticker for the equity sleeve.
